Type 1 Diabetes Symptoms

For those worried about having type 1 diabetes, this list of type 1 diabetes symptoms has been compiled. If you have some of the symptoms below, you should see your doctor as soon as possible. Here are some symptoms of type 1 diabetes:

1. Excessive urination: One thing that can cause excessive urination is blood glucose levels of 180 mg/dl or more. When the blood glucose is this high, the kidneys start sending it out in the urine. Glucose levels that are high are a very strong indicator of diabetes. Excessive urination can be a symptom of many other health problems as well, so you should never ignore this symptom.

2. Extreme thirst: When your body is taking too much liquid out of your body in an effort to expel sugar, your blood can become very thick and you can suffer extreme thirst. So this symptom can be a symptom of the previous symptom, excessive urination, while also being a symptom itself.

3. Unexplained weight loss: When the body is expelling glucose in urine rather than using it or storing it, your body may begin breaking down muscle tissue and fat to supply energy needs. If you are losing weight even though you are eating plenty of food, you will want to talk to a doctor about it.

4. Excessive hunger: Another effect of your body expelling the glucose you're eating is that you may experience excessive hunger as your body seeks to replace the energy it is losing. While the root problem may be that the cells are not getting the glucose they need, the effect is that your body is constantly trying to get them more glucose. You may find that even after you have filled your stomach full of food you are hungry because the glucose isn't getting into the cells.

5. Excessive fatigue: As a result of this cycle of your body trying to get energy into the cells but failing, you may experience excessive fatigue. Additionally, you may have lost muscle tissue making you weaker and less enduring. And, the more muscle you lose the more out of control your blood sugar and thus diabetes may result. The thirst may also fatigue you. Your body has no choice but to be fatigued when all of these factors are put together. You will feel extremely tired and fatigued as this process continues to operate uncontrolled.
